Today was so incredible! A once in a lifetime sort of an experience: truly exceptional. We had our alarm set for 6am this morning, we got up, I had my lemon water and got dressed into my comfy travel attire – leggingst-shirt and this super soft blue denim shirt which I tied around my waist for some extra layering if cold. I braided my hair for the first time ever into a side Dutch braid, and to my surprise I did pretty good considering how sleepy I was still when braiding. We loaded our luggage into the car and then stopped to drop off our little Fiji at our friends’ house for the weekend. He gets to spend the weekend with his new bestie – Pablo.  Together they are so playful! We are so thankful for our good friends to watch him for us.

We then took off to the local airport. Once we got there we parked right outside where our Wheels Up King Air 350i Jet was waiting for us – no airport shuttle or buses, no security checks, no lines, just a simple “Good Morning, may I see your ID please?” by the pilots at the tarmac in front of the aircraft. Seemed like a dream. Actually, it totally was!! This thing was a blue and white beauty! I have never experienced anything like it. We got to meet both pilots and chat with them briefly before boarding. They were very friendly, experienced, and helped the family load up the luggage. Once it was time to board, I walked up the 5 steps, and was shocked to see how tiny it was inside! You have to bend forward as you walk in – you can’t stand up straight. But it’s small enough to easily get to your seat. The aircraft interior was luxurious, with seating for 9 passengers plus 2 pilots, and our airtime was just shy of 50 mins. Inside we had Fiji water –hooray, FIJI!! I was so overtaken by the aircraft and its comfort to even think of my Fiji. We also had all sorts of little snacks, drinks, and wifi once we reached 10,000 ft.

What an experience! That machine flew like butter! I’ve had the privilege of flying a lot – always commercial – and this flight was better than some of the smaller planes I’ve taken around Europe for the same duration/flight time. 50 mins in and we were in Mammoth Lakes with my husbands’ family for the weekend. What a joy! 😀 Have a great weekend! xo!!
